Creativity Workshops

S.P.I.C.E. Up Your Teaching with Creativity

Participate, laugh a little, be challenged. This hands-on workshop provides avenues to foster creative thinking in the classroom. How do scientists, artists, writers, and CEO's come up with new ideas and ways to combine information? This question, as well as some of the latest thinking about creativity, will be discussed. Activities focus on addressing multiple intelligences, reaching divergent learners, embracing change, and igniting creativity. Participants will experience a process they can use personally or for engaging and motivating their students.

Creativity and the Curriculum

In this workshop, participants delve into practical applications of the creative process in the classroom. The story model of integration is used to explore concepts in language arts, social studies, and fine arts, as well as adding moments of personal meaning to a lesson. Using a Native American tale as an example, participants experience the teaching of standards associated with myth, Native American culture, personal autobiography, visual arts, movement, writing, and drama. Participants discuss how to transform their classroom lessons into dynamic, student-centered experiences that provide creative approaches to learning.
