Artist Training Workshops
Artists in the School Part I: Exploring the
Culture of Schools
This training program for artists new to working in schools
presents an overview of adapting to school culture. The language of
education, lesson planning, child development, teacher
accountability, and educational expectations are explored. Artists
participate in activities that illustrate the nature of schools
today and discuss implications for their own work in a school
setting.
Artists in the School Part
II: Becoming a
Teaching Artist
Integration, assessment, curriculum, and classroom management are
topics artists explore in these advanced workshops. Each workshop
includes hands-on activities in the arts that demonstrate theory in
practice. Artists are encouraged to bring examples and stories of
their own work to share and discuss.
Artists in the School Part
III: Artists
Teaching Teachers
In this training session, artists explore how to design and
present professional development workshops for teachers. Following
best practices in teacher training, participants experience,
discuss, and evaluate a variety of components, strategies, and
techniques for working with teachers and other adult learners.
